Is each state matching their daily targets for distribution and daily doses administered?
The dashboard shows if in each state, doses administered each day match daily targets. The dashboard also is unique in showing crucial information such as COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths alongside vaccine distribution and administered doses, allowing comparisons between vaccination progress and the size and impact of continued outbreaks in each state.
As the coronavirus continues to spread rapidly across communities and drives mutations that can breed new, more contagious variants, meeting vaccination goals will be essential to getting the pandemic under control and the nation back on track.
“There is a great urgency to get people vaccinated quickly, to save lives and build resilience against new variants and eventually end the pandemic. But unless we are tracking vaccinations closely, we can’t understand if we are making progress and why some states are doing so much better at getting shots into arms than others,” says Dr. Ashish K. Jha, dean of the Brown School of Public Health.
“Given the complexity of vaccination distributions, the dashboard is a tool for policymakers, community leaders, as well as the public, to view progress in the vaccine rollout, deploy resources where needed, and effectively advocate for constituents,” says John Kahan, Vice President and Chief Data Analytics Officer at Microsoft.
The new dashboard provides novel insights by showing which states are meeting the required run rate of vaccines administered daily to make the 100 day goal of the Biden Administration and which states are not meeting that metric for success.
